Sauna by the sea
Just a few steps from your room, the sauna and private jetty await, overlooking the beautiful Käringö Fjord. Sink into the warmth of the sauna, take a refreshing dip in the sea, and return to the heat as the light shifts across the water. It's a simple ritual that many of our guests choose to experience more than once during their stay.

Bathing at Karingon
As you open the sauna door, you're greeted by the fresh sea air and the gentle sound of waves against the jetty. Step straight into the clear waters of the sea, then return to the comforting warmth of the sauna.
Through the panoramic window, the Käringö Fjord stretches out before you, with ever-changing skies and shifting light reflecting across the water. It's a place to slow down, breathe deeply, and simply enjoy the moment.
The contrast between the warmth of the sauna and the cool, saltwater sea is an experience that changes with the seasons. A tranquil summer evening, a crisp autumn afternoon, or a bright winter morning each offers its own unique atmosphere.
The waters surrounding Käringön are renowned for their exceptional clarity and high salinity, making every swim wonderfully refreshing and unforgettable.
Käringön lies at the outer edge of Sweden’s west coast, where the horizon feels endless and the sea is always present. As early as the late 19th century, the island became known as a seaside health resort, celebrated for its sunny climate, fresh sea air and clear, salt-rich waters.
Smooth granite rocks invite you to pause in the sun and take in uninterrupted views across the open sea. With a little luck, a seal may appear near the shore. More often, there is only the gentle rhythm of the waves and open water stretching towards the Shetland Islands and Scotland.
Around the island, you will also find several places to swim, with jetties, bathing ladders and sun-warmed rocks. Whether you prefer an early morning dip or an evening swim, the sea is never far away.
Tips
The traditional sauna ritual is beautifully simple. Start with a refreshing swim in the sea, then unwind in the warmth of the sauna before cooling off in the water once again. Between each round, pause on the jetty, breathe in the fresh sea air and enjoy the ever-changing views across the Käringö Fjord.
